BLURB
During my Junior Spring, I embarked on an adventure of learning. My first stop was Le Wagon, a full-stack coding boot camp, in London. Never have I had to absorb and apply new information so vigorously. Fortunately, this program’s emphasis was bringing coding skills to creative people. Its entrepreneurial nature taught beyond the scope of pure code; Le Wagon encouraged and guided its students to develop business ideas, ponder UX/UI design as we code, and collaborate in a start-up manner. I was absolutely exhilarated by the challenges and am proud to showcase the web app my team and I designed, implemented, and coded in 10 days. Gifter makes it easy to start investing in your child’s future by encouraging friends and family to fundraise towards meaningful gifts and experiences.

The Inspiration
Meet William (real picture redacted for privacy reasons), my teammate, Kat’s boyfriend’s godson. He is awesome and loves dressing up. It was his 3rd birthday coming up, and Kat and her boyfriend set out to buy him the perfect birthday gift. They knew he liked the Paw Patrol cartoon, so they decided to get him a Paw Patrol Marshall costume. After frantically searching and throwing cash at the problem, they finally found it! They turned up to his birthday party, feeling a tad smug, thinking that they had nailed the present. Not quite. Unfortunately, someone else already gave William the exact same Paw Patrol outfit minutes before they did. After this ordeal, Kat thought, wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to facilitate gifting relevant and meaningful presents for kids.
Target Audience
Parents: Fed up of tripping over paw patrollers or accidentally sitting on action men. With 700,000 children born every year in the UK, we won’t be short of these guys!
Gift givers: A large number of which would likely be baby-boomer grandparents, a digitally savvy bunch who are looking for efficient and meaningful ways of showing their love
Kids: Sure, they like opening lots of big shiny presents, but studies suggest that too many toys actually inhibiting children’s cognitive development.
